Goodwood State School have had a long-standing, close rapport with the Woodgate RSL sub-branch. The Woodgate RSL assists our school to commemorate ANZAC Day each year at our school grounds and we participate in the ANZAC service at Woodgate.
As a way of making the 100 year commemoration of ANZAC particularly distinctive, we are linking up with our equivalents in New Zealand. The Woodgate RSL has established communication with an RSA in a small town in southern New Zealand called Winton. In the same town we have established communication with staff and students from the small school in Winton called St Thomas Aquinas.
We have already shared school shirts that were signed by all our students. We are now exchanging notes between students to generate familiarity with each other. Our goal is to work towards developing and enacting a plan that re-kindles the close bond between New Zealand and Australia for our special commemoration.
