Goodwood State School is privileged to have the strong support of many volunteers in our community. We have parents & guardians who manage and provide our “special food days” and run numerous fundraising events including Bingo at the Woodgate Club. We have volunteers managing our roadside sign, operating our uniform shop, helping provide discos, assisting at sports days, and numerous other ways of supporting our school. Some help in classrooms for particular activities like art or reading.
Goodwood State School is most fortunate to have the support of a group of wonderful people in the Woodgate Community, collectively known as “The Woodgate Readers”. They are a group of semi-retired, professional people who generously donate their time each week to support our students with their reading. There about 15 Woodgate Readers and they roster themselves so that we have about two or three members volunteering in our classrooms before school each morning. They listen to children read and share their love of reading and interest in books. Our students thoroughly enjoy their participation and involvement in our school days.
The impact of the morning reading episodes greatly enhance student reading skill development and our community is very grateful of the generous support from the Woodgate Readers.
